This tape recorder, with an aura of foreboding, carried echoes from another realm—messages that refused to be silenced.
One humid summer night, Aman, a seasoned pickpocket serving his final year, stumbled upon the device while cleaning the office under guard supervision. Drawn by an inexplicable urge, he pressed “play.” At first, the tape played mundane prison sounds—clanking chains and distant murmurs. But then, a chilling voice began to recite what seemed like Aman’s most guarded memories—secrets even he had buried deep within. His body froze as the voice addressed him by name, narrating his crimes in hauntingly specific detail.
A Sinister Connection

He added that the device was said to bridge the living and the dead, often luring individuals into a sinister pact. Aman, initially dismissive, began to notice how the tape’s recordings started including names and crimes of his fellow inmates, foretelling their deaths.
The Terrifying Pact
One stormy night, the recorder demanded Aman’s freedom in exchange for silence, offering a “path out” if he agreed to one condition—become its keeper and spread its curse. Tempted by the promise of escape, Aman hesitated, realizing too late the depths of the deal. The next morning, his cell was found empty. Guards assumed he had escaped, but Kabir knew better. A new tape, with Aman’s desperate cries, now played in the recorder.
