The Midnight Bus Ride to Terror

A chilling true story of a late-night bus ride gone awry, revealing sinister passengers and a cryptic warning. Who was truly saved that night?

Based on a true story.

It was past 2 a.m. when four passengers waited under the flickering streetlight for the midnight bus service. Among them were a couple, Victor and Elizabeth in their early 30s, an elderly woman Mrs. D’Souza , and a young man, Dhruv. All bound for different destinations but united by the ghostly quiet of the late hour. As the bus arrived, its headlights piercing the thickening fog, the passengers boarded, the driver greeting each with a nod.

As the bus rumbled down its usual route, a sudden veil of dense fog engulfed the road. The driver, wary of the treacherous weather, sought the passengers’ consensus to take a safer detour. They agreed, and the couple alighted at the turn, leaving the Mrs. D’Souza and Dhruv behind. Moments later, the driver slammed on the brakes, jerking everyone forward. On the road ahead, three men stood, their attire tattered and ancient, seemingly caked in dirt. Assuming they were performers from a nearby drama club, the passengers thought little of their strange appearance and allowed them to board.

The bus resumed its journey, but unease lingered in the air. Suddenly, Mrs. D’Souza erupted, accusing Dhruv of stealing her purse. A heated argument ensued, forcing the driver to pull over at the nearest stop by a police station. Both were made to disembark to resolve the matter. As the bus pulled away, the young man, still fuming, turned to the elderly woman. Her demeanour had changed; she appeared serene, almost smug.

“Why are you so calm now?” he asked, his frustration evident.

“You should be thanking me,” she replied with a smirk.

“For what?” he snapped. “You got us thrown off the bus!”

Her voice dropped, her eyes glinting with a mix of relief and dread. “You didn’t notice, did you?”

Confused, he pressed her. She sighed, pointing toward the road where the bus had vanished into the fog. “The three men—they never cast shadows. I’ve seen them before, long ago. That bus is cursed. Everyone aboard will vanish before sunrise. You’re safe now.”

The young man’s anger gave way to a cold wave of fear. As he stared into the foggy emptiness, the truth of her words settled in. The bus never arrived at its final stop, and the passengers were never seen again.
